About the Project
The goal of the Washington State /Idaho regional modeling project was to generate GAMS code that would facilitate the construction of regional SAM’s that then could be used to parameterize a generic regional cge model. This model can be used to examine the economic impacts of alternative public policies in the user’s own region. The project is a joint effort of the Department of Economic Sciences at Washington State University and the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at the University of Idaho.
The project has developed a new generic regional economic model for policy analysis. The model builds on best practices in regional general equilibrium modeling while at the same time incorporating a much richer policy detail than many previous models.
The key persons working on the project are David Holland, an economist in the Department of Economic Sciences at Washington State University, Stephen Devadoss, an economist in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at the University of Idaho, and Leroy Stodick an operations research specialist at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at the University of Idaho.
The project is partially supported at WSU and the University of Idaho by funds from the IMPACT Center (Thomas Wahl , Director, Washington State University).
